Praying for others

Spread the love

Praying for those whom God has put into your life is the greatest act of Mercy you can show them. And your prayer may actually be the key to their eternal salvation.

It doesn’t matter what success or failures we may see when praying for another. Our duty and privilege is to continue praying. How horrible it would be to someday stand before Jesus and have Him say to you sadly, “if only you hadn’t stopped praying for xxxx, he/she would have been with Me now.”

Think of St. Augustine’s mother, St. Monica. She prayed for years and saw no changes in her son. If she had given up because she didn’t see any good fruits or consolations from her prayer, the church could have lost one of its greatest minds. Through St. Monica’s persistent prayer, her son came into the Church and wrote books that stand today as some of the greatest writings of the Church.

Would St. Augustine still be a saint and Doctor of the Church if his mother stopped praying? Maybe. God isn’t dependent upon our prayers. It isn’t from our prayer that God’s heart is changed.

Think about those whom God has placed in your life. Whether it is family, friends, co-workers or simple acquaintances, you have a duty to pray for them. Your daily prayer for those around you is an act of Mercy that can easily be exercised.

Call to mind those in your life who may be in most need of prayer today and pause to offer them to God. As you do, God will pour grace upon them and He will also reward your own soul for this act of generosity.

I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it. I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbor: the first — by deed, the second — by word, the third — by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy” Divine Mercy in my soul # 742

  1. I pray divine mercy every Friday. I oray for family dead and alive. I pray for Frieda and people who have no one. The lier has falsely attacked my mind and wanted me to think I made a sacrifice that I would except pain for doing it. Flat out LIE
