What better way to look at a Monday and start a week than by praising our God?
This is an original song by Terri of Praise Nation PGH. I’ll let Terri share the meaning of this song in her words.
“This song was one of the songs that came out of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises that I journeyed with this year.
One day, after receiving Communion at morning Mass, I started praying to Jesus to rest in me. As I prayed this over and over, it fell into a rhythm, then a melody was given to me. When I got into school, I found the chords that sounded best. This is the first and only recording. I have made some slight changes to the verse and will hopefully be recording this and the other songs that came out of the Exercises.”
When I sit and pray this song, the words “Rest in Me” wash over me in dual meaning. This is my prayer, like Terri, that Jesus rest in me. He is our peace and strength and as such, we find peace by letting Jesus rest in us.
The Lord put on my heart the dual meaning – is it I who rests in Jesus or Jesus Who rests in me? I see that He desires we rest in Him. We need rest in Jesus – I guess the easiest way to see this is in the signature on the Image of the Merciful Jesus – “Jesus, I trust in You.”
Let’s give Terri the final word on this reflection. “When I sang this that day after receiving Him in the Eucharist, Jesus was then singing it back to me and we became one!”

“I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!” Psalm 34:2-4
