Let’s start this week pondering with Praise Nation PGH upon the ‘Reckless Love” of God.
This song is based on Jesus’ story of the shepherd who leaves the 99 sheep in pursuit to find the one sheep that wandered off. In this parable, the shepherd stands for God and the sheep stands for people.
The 99 sheep are those who have placed faith in Him and are following Him, and the sheep that wandered away is the person who has turned away from God. The main message Jesus is communicating through this story is that God loves each and every person, and He is not willing to lose one of His children.
The love of God is worth the life of the Shepherd, to save even just one. Even if that one sheep is black as coal.
““Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” Luke 15:4-7
