Praise Monday – “Reckless Love”

Spread the love

““Let all on earth worship and sing praise to you, sing praise to your name!” Psalm 67:4

What better way to look at a Monday and start a week than by praising our God?

This song is based on Jesus’ story of the shepherd who leaves the 99 sheep in pursuit to find the one sheep that wandered off. In this parable, the shepherd stands for God and the sheep stands for people.

“‘Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.”” Luke 15:4-6

The 99 sheep are those who have placed faith in Him and are following Him, and the sheep that wandered away is the person who has turned away from God. The main message Jesus is communicating through this story is that God loves each and every person, and He is not willing to lose even just one of His children.

God is not reckless with anything. He is always in complete and total control. But, by our standards, love, in this manner is reckless. We would think, ‘you got the 99, why risk them for just one?’ But, God sees love differently, it is even the one, lost soul for whom He came in search of and for whom He died. It is too find this one lost soul for which He came from Heaven to earth.

This is ‘reckless’ total love. Be loved, YOU are that one sheep.

“I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!” Psalm 34:2-4
