Start the week, start every day with a heart of praise. Orient your thoughts to God, raising your prayer in thanks and praise to God for all He does every day, every moment in your life.
Yea, it’s Monday, the dreaded first day of the work week for most. That is why we celebrate Praise Monday each week, to orient this day and then our whole week to God.
A Vocation of Praise. Praising God is a God-appointed calling. Indeed, God has formed for himself a people “that they may proclaim my [God’s] praise” (Isaiah 43:21 ; Jeremiah 13:11). God has also predestined the church “to the praise of his [God’s] glorious grace” ( Ephesians 1:6 ; Matthew 5:16 ;1 Peter 2:9 ). The future vocation of the redeemed in glory is to sing praise to God and the Lamb ( Revelations 4:11 ; 5:12-14 ; 7:12 ).
In the light of this calling to praise God, the oft-declared intention, “I will praise you, O God, ” and the exhortations for others to praise God take on additional meaning. In giving oneself to praise the worshiper declares his or her total alignment with God’s purposes. God is holy and fully good. Praise is fitting for what is the highest good, God himself.
Praise is both a duty and a delight.
“Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on your name. My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast, and my mouth praises you with joyful lips when I think of you on my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.” Psalm 63:3-7
The angels do it. Start singing the praises of God and never stop!
