Nothing else – I just want You!
I sit, listen to this song with my wife as we have an impromptu praise and worship session this evening.
The art of praise is to bring the heart, mind and soul in line with only wanting Jesus. To be so attuned with the desire to just sit at the feet of Jesus. Desiring nothing, no blessing, no healing or wisdom or any gift at all but to be with Him.
To become lost so deeply in praising God – that is true joy. Hours pass, hands raised, eyes closed just lost in His presence. For me, this sense of being lost in God’s presence is the harvest of what praise is.
I remember the night Connie and I first heard this song. We broke our rule and revisited a church for a Sunday night Mass. God blessed is for surrendering and just wanting to be with Him at Mass. That night, the church followed the great prayer of Mass with a Holy Hour. An hour of open adoration of Jesus. But, on top of this was the musician who led a worship and praise prayer through that hour. Kneeling before God in the Eucharist upon the altar, listening to these words….tears flowed. Neither one of us desired to be anywhere else. I admit, I did Google the refrain to find this song during adoration.
Close your eyes as you listen to these words. Imagine yourself sitting at the feet of Jesus. Maybe as He speaks some great lesson you’ve read before or just as He looks at you, as you gaze at Him.
What do you see when you gaze upon the Sacred Host? With your eyes you see bread, but with your soul you should see God. You should see God in all His glory and power and you should adore Him with all your might. Think about how you relate to our Lord as He is present in the Holy Eucharist. Pray that God will flood your mind with a true knowledge of Him and inspire your heart with a burning love.
