What better way to look at a Monday and start a week than by praising our God?
“My one defense, MY righteousness.” If you think through the context of the song carefully, you do see that it is intended that it is Christ who is our one defense and it is Christ who is our righteousness. In fact, in the final chorus, Matt Maher has even inserted the words, “You are” my one defense, my righteousness.
I’ve always loved this video since I first saw it. To see Matt kneeling and singing to our Lord in the Eucharist…wow! I took my guitar once before the Tabernacle and sang my praises to the Lord. I can’t sing nearly like Matt or most, but, I knew the Lord was pleased with my prayer song. As I sang “Lord, I need You,” I broke down in tears. I don’t know how Matt managed this before all those people, the Pope and especially, before God Himself. I pray you find this song as strengthening and uplifting as I do. And, this video as powerful.
