Praise Monday – Desert Road

Spread the love

Listening to this song and reading St. Faustina’s writings, I think of the desert.

I’ve shared thoughts on the valley in the past. How it may seem the valley is a low point, but, through the valley runs the river. The river gives life and growth to the soul.

Now, reflecting on the desert….

The desert is one of the least hospitable areas to be wandering within. Looking around, there is little life to be seen. And, what life is found is unfriendly – poking cacti and dangerous scorpions and snakes. The heat is oppressive, waves of heat rise from the empty sands. Yet, at night, the temperature can go from triple digits to sub- freezing in a very short time.

But, all is very deceptive. Life is abundant all around, water can be found if one knows where to look.

In our spiritual life, the Desert Road can seem a horrible place to be. Lost and alone, spiritual parched and surrounded by fearful enemies. But, even here is God present and active. His presence is like the sun pouring down. Filling the eyes with His immense brilliance – blinding to look upon.

If one seeks, even the desert is a place of growth. Even here in this land can the soul find the beauty of God. The appreciation of the moment in God’s Light takes on a deeper fulfillment.
