“Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time on and forevermore.” Psalm 113/2
What better way to look at a Monday and start a week than by praising our God?
This is by far my favorite Praise Nation PGH song – that’s saying a lot with all the great originals that they’ve done which I love. My brother in Christ Joe lifts us to joy and true praise in these lyrics and the rhythm of the song. This song just brings one’s hands high to praise and sing the glory of God and the joy of knowing His Mercy and love overflows the heart and soul. Listening to this song sends my soul out to exclaim the great glory of the Father through Jesus Christ.
This song lifts my hands to praise the Father – even if I tried to not praise this song draws it from the deepest parts of my soul. This song is the centerpiece of what we are and how we should act. We are the glory of God as He breathes His Spirit into our soul and gives His life from the crib to the cross. This song permeates the very life of what we are as Catholics.
There is not one thing we can add or take from God’s intrinsic glory. He is glorious and blessed all by himself and has no need of our praise.
However, we can help to spread God’s external glory by our praise and acknowledgment of Him before others, as well as by reflecting His glory through lives of holiness, generosity and conformity to the truth. In this sense we can also understand the phrase “Blessed be God forever” to mean: “May God’s external glory and blessedness be extended and experienced in all places and times. May God be blessed (praised) everywhere and unto the age of ages.”

“I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!” Psalm 34:2-4
