What better way to look at a Monday and start a week than by praising our God?
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:16-17
“All Because of Jesus” – a beautiful song by Casting Crowns with a great message for this week’s praise and prayer.
There is nothing we do that isn’t for Jesus. It is all because of Jesus! Humility of spirit is what guides a heart to meet God most closely.
Just read the words of Philippians 2 – “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.” (V 3). Jesus has led me through His humility to desire to be more like Him and through the example of His life to live my life to give Him glory. Jesus gave all His life to bring glory to the Father, to make the Father known by all of His words and deeds.
Nothing has taught me this humility more than being part of the Emmaus ministry. I was called by God to a position of leadership and in that I learned to be humble. I am very subject to pride and vainglory, this could very easily have led me to pride. But, the Lord has been teaching me through the example of these great men to serve in humble devotion to God the Father. To always point upwards in victory and loss. My goal, someday, is to live in this humble service.
Day 6 of the Divine Mercy Novena starts with Jesus’ words, “Today bring to Me the meek and humble souls and the souls of little children, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart.” Let His prayer be a resounding bell within your soul.
Live every moment to give glory to the Lord Jesus alone. Let every action, word and deed, be done in the Name of Jesus, always giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Live your life for the glory of God the Father through Jesus Christ. In all you do, point up.
