Praise – Lead Me

Spread the love

I desire to be a good man. Most men do. But, I dreamt my whole life of being the knight in shining armor. The man who stood for his values no matter what. Was willing to fight for the right way and die defending His king.

I’ve grown and changed over the decades. Now, I desire to be that man for my wife, children and grandchildren. I want to be a good husband, father and grandfather…what man doesn’t? But, sometimes, I know, I get hooked by the world. I’ve focused on work or TV or chores or even ministries. So often, I’ve let the focus shift inwards to me.

It is so easy to lose focus, it is so difficult to know what to do at times. Men of God, is in these times that we need to cry out, “Father, lead me, ’cause I can’t do this alone.”

This song hits home every time I hear it.

So Father, give me the strength
To be everything I’m called to be
Oh, Father, show me the way
To lead them
Won’t You lead me?

To lead them with strong hands
To stand up when they can’t
Don’t want to leave them hungry for love,
Chasing things that I could give up

I’ll show them I’m willing to fight
And give them the best of my life
So we can call this our home
Lead me, ’cause I can’t do this alone

Father, lead me, ’cause I can’t do this alone

As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!” Joshua 24:15

  1. Ed, I know your blog is for the Catholic community, but I am a Lutheran, and I read it first thing every morning. I commend you for doing what the Lord asked of all of us in Mark 16:15- “Go into all the world, and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Thank you for bringing me peace and comfort every day. 1. Thank you Gale…I wrote my Road of Faith from a Catholic viewpoint because that’s where I am. I am hopeful and glad that others get something positive from this blog to help them draw closer to God’s heart.
