Our Gift to God

Spread the love

What can we give to God? Everything is His, all creation and every aspect to the most minuscule atom is God’s to control and own.

What do we have that would be of any value to God? A gift worthy of the King and God of all?

I ask this question of the Blessed Mother this morning. she reminds me of her encounter with Gabriel in Luke 1:38. Mother Mary tells me to focus and reflect upon her response. “Then Mary said, “behold the handmaid of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.”

All we have to give to God is our ‘yes’.

But, what value is MY yes? There are so many better than I, so many better Christians. I am nothing compared to even the least of these.

“My child, your yes is most treasured by the Father”, replied Mary.

It may not seem much but it is a gift most treasured by God. No gift is of more value than our yes.

Our YES is one of the greatest Alleluias we can raise to the Father.

The greatest sinner who says yes to God is vindicated before the majesty of the King. One can’t say ‘yes’ to God if one’s heart isn’t repentant and turning toward the Lord. The whispered ‘yes’ in the darkness of night from the lowest place rings strong as a clarion bell in Heaven.

Even though my life isn’t what I would want to offer to God, so much has gone wrong by my choices – I can still off my yes – my alleluia.

Take this day to mediate upon these three simple letters. A word that is one of the most basic, simple to say without effort. But, a word with such depth and meaning that it has the power to shake all creation and hush the song of the Heavenly host. As Mary spoke this word to God’s call, so can you. It won’t be any less meaningful to the Father. He will treasure it in His Sacred Heart.

Stop this moment, draw deep upon the depth and meaning of this word, don’t say it unless you mean it but don’t hold back in fear that it won’t measure up. Mary Immaculate will wrap it in gold and give it to God. Jesus and Mary won’t be outdone ever, so imagine what your yes will bring back from God.
