Night Prayers

“During the night, I was suddenly awakened and knew that some soul was asking me for prayer, and that it was in much need of prayer” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 809

Do you ever wake in the dark of night? Finding yourself, for no reason, simply woken from your sleep? How do you react? Do you look at the clock and figure how many hours you have u til the alarm sounds?

Have you ever considered it may be that the Lord woke you? God may not give you vision to see who is needing prayer or why. He may no bi-locate you to their bedside in their moment of passing over. But, just because God doesn’t choose to give these special graces to you doesn’t mean He isn’t seeking your prayer for a soul.

At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same.”

This is an inconceivable grace God is offering. God the Father may call upon you to be the conduit of His Mercy in this final moment of a soul’s life on earth. He may be calling you to unlock and open the door through which His Son will enter a soul’s eternal life.

Many souls will face this moment in terror. What is on the other side? What have I done? What judgment will I face? Afraid, the soul may cower when Jesus comes to the door. By the grace of your presence in the prayer, you can open the door for them. Allowing Divine Mercy to invite them home.

If you wake, grumble and rollover, a soul may lose this final grace…forever.

I’ve had the blessing of offering this prayer awoken from sleep. I’ve had God show me clearly that it was the Father Who woke me to pray, though only once did He show me for whom my prayer was offered. This is a grace I will not squander. To know that laying in the dark midnight, maybe, just maybe, my Chaplet is falling at the bedside of a lost and lonely soul who is terrified to close his eyes. I figure, someday, I may meet a soul (or many) at God’s throne who thank me for opening the door that God’s final grace may fall upon them. To know, that without that one moment of prayer, God’s anger would have fallen in judgment upon the soul. But, from that midnight prayer, they are here at His throne praising His Divine Mercy.

When you wake in the middle of the night, offer a prayer, the Chaplet, for a soul.

If you woke by happenstance, still pray. If the Chaplet is ‘un-aimed’, it will still land by God’s grace upon one who needs prayer.

“During the night, I was suddenly awakened and knew that some soul was asking me for prayer, and that it was in much need of prayer. Briefly, but with all my soul, I asked the Lord for grace for her. The following afternoon, when I entered the ward, I saw someone dying, and learned that the agony had started during the night. When I verified it — it had been at the time when I had been asked for prayer. And just then, I heard a voice in my soul: Say the chaplet which I taught you. I ran to fetch my rosary and knelt down by the dying person and, with all the ardour of my soul, I began to say the chaplet. Suddenly the dying person opened her eyes and looked at me; I had not managed to finish the entire chaplet when she died, with extraordinary peace. I fervently asked the Lord to fulfil the promise He had given me for the recitation of the chaplet. The Lord gave me to know that the soul had been granted the grace He had promised me. That was the first soul to receive the benefit of the Lord’s promise. I could feel the power of mercy envelop that soul.

When I entered my solitude, I heard these words: At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same. When this chaplet is said by the bedside of a dying person, God’s anger is placated, unfathomable mercy envelops the soul, and the very depths of My tender mercy are moved for the sake of the sorrowful Passion of My Son. Oh, if only everyone realized how great the Lord’s mercy is and how much we all need that mercy, especially at that crucial hour!” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 808-811
