My Lord and My God

Spread the love

“TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT. FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU…TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.” Eucharistic prayer

“Through him, and with him, and in him,
O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor is yours,
for ever and ever.”

The people acclaim:
Amen.

That moment in every celebration of Holy Mass. the moment when Jesus comes into our midst, holds the bread up, holds the cup and speaks the words from the first Holy Thursday.

That singular moment when the priest lifts the consecrated body and blood of Jesus speaking the words that call down blessing of the Holy Trinity upon this moment.

My Lord and my God!

In this instant all the angels in Heaven, all the saints around Heaven’s altar and the Church Militant on earth declare “My Lord and my God!”

Do you know that this ‘moment’, encapsulated within the Holy Mass is Heaven and earth coming together to sing God’s praise with joy and thanksgiving? Do you slow down you mind enough for this ‘moment’ to realize what is occurring and Whom it is standing before you? In Persona Christi – Jesus stands at the altar holding bread and wine hidden by the form and voice of the priest. All the Trinity is present at the moment of this blessing. All the angels and saints are in awe before the Eucharistic Lord.

My Lord and my God!

Let this prayer of praise come from the deepest depths of your soul as the Eucharist is raised high over the altar – “Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever and ever.

When you see this simple form before stoke the flames of your faith and kindle the fire of your soul. As the Holy Trinity settles blessings upon the moment, beg God to catch you within the fire of the moment, within His Holy Presence.

Sing the ‘Holy, Holy, Holy“ with the saints and angels. Smell the rising incense as it carries your prayers and needs to God’s throne. Sing ALLELUIA at the top of your lungs.

THIS IS JESUS CHRIST PRESENT BEFORE YOU!

The people acclaim:
Amen.

Fill the heavens with sweet accord:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!

Holy Father, Holy Son,
Holy Spirit, Three we name thee,
While in essence only One,
Undivided God we claim thee;
And adoring bend the knee,
While we own the mystery.

  1. Ed this is so beautifully described. The true presence of our Lord’s body and blood is so forgotten now in our faith that they have chosen to leave. I pray that all will one day return and hear Welcome Home!
    God bless you and Connie.
