“He who does not take advantage of small graces will not receive great ones.” Divine Mercy in my soul # 165
“From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.” Luke 12:48
All grace and mercy is given to anyone who follows God, who gives their heart to Jesus and prays ‘Thy Will be done’. The spickets of Heaven are not open to just trickle grace and mercy upon these souls, the floodgates are open wide to the full deluge of Divine Mercy and grace straight from the throne of God, from the heart of the Father Himself.
God, the Father of All Mercy, gives more grace and mercy to the soul then asked for or thought necessary by the soul. He holds nothing back in His gifts. There’s no limit to his generosity. He is always blessing, always inviting us back into His Heart, always squandering grace, squandering love, squandering mercy.
We encounter the Prodigal Father in the Divine Mercy, freely pouring His mercy out upon all. The story of the prodigal son is really the story of the prodigal father, who is so full of love that He gives it out freely and in abundance, not based on merit, but on relationship: “This son of mine was dead and is alive again.” Luke 15:32
But, with this “squandered” grace and mercy, the Father requires much of the soul. Don’t worry, the more God asks, the more grace and mercy He pours into the soul. Imagine the pain of the Father when the older son expresses his hurt over the treatment of his ‘dead’ younger brother.
When we do the work in the fields and see another soul blessed beyond reason, we need to rejoice with the Father, with that soul, even offering more gifts from our treasury to that soul. We never can be like the older brother, where we hoard every blessing of the Father, upset that another undeserving soul receive from God’s abundance. None are deserving of God’s grace or mercy, we all deserve the treatment the younger brother asked for – to be treated as a slave or worse, to be cast from the Father’s lands.
That’s not how God works though. He loves each soul beyond its efforts, beyond the justice it has ‘earned’. We need to understand the radical difference between the way God loves and the way we tend to love, and come around to His way.
When we receive mercy, we need to give it all away to those who hurt and wrong us. When we receive grace in answered prayers, we need to offer our grace fully to the soul in trial. Yes, to whom much is given much is expected. But, the love of the Father can never be out given, for when we give every gift and grace, even the last drop of Mercy away, the Father will pour double portions, triple and so much more upon us. This soul will begin to discover what God’s Love and Mercy truly is. Limitless.
Imagine this world! One where every soul that knows God, pours ALL of His Divine Mercy upon every soul it meets, regardless of whether it deserves or even desires it.
the Road of Faith begins on the same road as the younger brother, the road home to the Father. The Father is waiting ahead to throw a party for His child, who was dead and is alive again. Imagine the joy when you are bringing ‘a friend home to meet your Father.’
“Conversion to God always consists in discovering and rediscovering the Father who is rich in mercy” St. Pope John Paul II
