More than devotion

Spread the love

“Today during adoration, the Lord gave me to know how much He desires a soul to distinguish itself by deeds of love. And in spirit I saw how many souls are calling out to us, “Give us God.” And the blood of the Apostles boiled up within me. I will not be stingy with it; I will shed it all to the last drop for immortal souls. Although perhaps God will not demand that in the physical sense, in spirit it is possible and no less meritorious.” Divine Mercy in my soul # 1249

Many millions of people are devoted to the Divine Mercy. But, Divine Mercy is more than just another devotion. Divine Mercy must be a way of life for those following it. Anyone who has read the pages of St. Faustina’s diary knows from her thoughts and the words of our Lord that this must be lived.

Divine Mercy is not just an image or a Chaplet or even a special Sunday. Divine Mercy is not a checklist of activities one must go through to feel good. To be devoted to the Divine Mercy one must fully live it – one must be Divine Mercy.

“I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbours always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 318

The Lord is very clear in the Gospels and throughout the pages of the diary that in order to receive the Father’s Mercy, one must give it as freely as they receive it.

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:14-15

The Lord “desires a soul to distinguish itself by deeds of love.” Deeds of love are the seeds of Divine Mercy. It is in action that we grow to love and desire this devotion of Divine Mercy. It is through action that we open our souls to receive more Mercy and in action which we give it all away in order to receive more.

The Lord said to me, “I desire that you give away all of which I give to you. The world is parched for my Love. It is by your devotion and self-giving that their thirst may be quenched.”

The world doesn’t want the Lord (it does but just doesn’t understand). The people are dying of thirst and hunger. They suffer a ‘climate crisis’ within their hearts that is the cause of this desert heart. When we live Divine Mercy as the Lord intends, we give this quenching water to all those we meet.

Are you devoted to the Divine Mercy? Then, live it. Go out into the world carrying these buckets of Mercy’s refreshing water. Quench the thirst. In doing so, you will be quenching the Lord’s thirst as well.

“I thirst” John 19:28

““Apostle of My mercy, proclaim to the whole world My unfathomable mercy. Do not be discouraged by the difficulties you encounter in proclaiming My mercy.” Divine Mercy in my soul # 1142
