Mercy came running – you are a prisoner set free. No matter how heavy the sins you carry, Mercy came running for you.
That’s what His life is about, that’s what His death is about. Through His whole ministry, Jesus pointed to the Father so we could know that we do have a Merciful Father Who loves us so much that He sent His only Son to earth to teach us and to die for us. See John 3:16 for proof in the Savior’s own words. The Father has always been there in His Mercy – “The Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness”. Exodus 34:6. This is a cornerstone verse of the Old Testament.
The Father’s desire to rain down Mercy is so evident throughout all scripture, see Isaiah 1:18, “though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be like snow”, Psalm103:1, “as far as the east is from the west, so far he removes our transgressions from us.”
Jesus told St Faustina, “who will proclaim My great mercy. I shall protect them Myself at the hour of death, as My own glory. And even if the sins of soul are as dark as night, when the sinner turns to My mercy he gives Me the greatest praise and is the glory of My Passion.” Divine Mercy in my soul #378
Don’t make the mistake to think your sins are beyond God’s Divine Mercy, #378 Jesus continues to say, “When a soul praises My goodness, Satan trembles before it and flees to the very bottom of hell.” So the only one telling you that you are unforgivable is the enemy because he knows the power of God the Father’s love and the Divine Mercy poured out from the cross.
When you come asking, timidly for forgiveness, like the prodigal falling to your knees with tears rolling down your cheeks expecting punishment, you will see the Merciful Savior smiling as the Father lifts you from the ground and wipes the tears from your eyes. The Father will embrace you and be the One with tears on His cheeks as He welcomes you home.
This whole week and everything about Good Friday yesterday and today is giving evidence of God the Father love and desire to not just give mercy but to immerse each soul in an ocean of Divine Mercy.
Let go of the lie this year as we move into Easter and to Divine Mercy Sunday next week, YOU are worthy of mercy. In fact, that’s the reason for this season.
