“Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life…I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’” Ezekiel 37:4-6
I know times are rough now. There is a lot of fear in the hearts of man, rightly so, the Coronavirus is a dangerous thing.
I feel though, deep within, that God is calling us to breathe life into His Holy Church, like He did with Ezekiel in that valley. If you remember not long back in the reflection ‘Mercy and Talents’, I shared how Jesus spoke to my heart, telling me, “My son, I have given you many talents…Will you use these talents to give back to Me a stronger church?”
Like Ezekiel in the Valley of Dry Bones, God is drawing us out and setting us down in a valley. He is asking us, even from our quarantines, to breathe life into His Church, to call it to rise from this valley as a new army.
“So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.” Ezekiel 37:10
In these ‘dark and scary’ days, we have the power of children of God Almighty to call upon all His Power in the Divine Mercy Jesus poured out from His Sacred Heart on the Cross and the tongues of Fire rained down in that dark room on Pentecost. Show love by reaching out, a text or email or more to let someone know you’re here. A phone call to listen to their worries and to share the Hope that is Jesus – that even in the darkest moment, especially in those moments, Jesus is present and loving His world. He came to point us to the Father, to show us the Father Who loves us individually enough to allow His Son to die a horrible death. He came to give us life to claim and to breathe His Breath in the Holy Spirit upon us and call us all to new life as ‘children of God’
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 1 John 3:1
“to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God”. John 1:12
