Mercy Burning

Spread the love

We are the saints in the furnace – not being consumed but shining bright with the fire of Christ.  Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we sing praise – “So let our sacrifice be in your presence today as we follow you unreservedly; for those who trust in you cannot be put to shame.  And now we follow you with our whole heart, we fear you and we pray to you. Do not let us be put to shame, but deal with us in your kindness and great mercy. Deliver us by your wonders, and bring glory to your name, O Lord.”  Daniel 3:34-43

In the darkest night, God will brighten up the skies.  We so often get caught in our needs and desires when talking to God.  We ask for this or that and look for proof of His presence by good things happening.  But, what if things get harder and not better? If so focused on our needs it is easy to start doubting or developing a spirit of fear.  That is right where the enemy wants the soul.

“They walked around in the midst of the flames, singing hymns to God and blessing the Lord.” Daniel 3:24

Sing praise!  When a soul lifts praise to God, especially in the ‘darkest night’, it overcomes fear and hopelessness.  Focus on all the great blessings of God in your life. The little cool breeze, the sunrise or beautiful sunset.  What about the laughter with friends or a loved one’s embrace? Give praise and thanks to God before any needs are lifted.  Yes God loves to hear our concerns but He already knows our deepest needs. So trust Him! He has it under control. Praise Him!  Each prayer look for more reasons to praise God and soon the soul will find itself lost in praise. And peace will settle in.
