We need to have the Mother of God standing at our side. She is a sure hope of coming to know Jesus Christ better and more easily. We have so many instances of the Blessed Mother coming to stand with us. She is strong and a great and mighty intercessor.
She walked the full road to Calgary along side her Son in His Passion, standing at His Cross as He died for all men. What’s more, with His last dying breathes, Jesus commended His Mother to be our Mother and through John asked us to stay close to Mary as a mother. The 4th commandment tells us how to live that relationship and Jesus showed us with His love of His mother while and earth and beyond.
He thinks very much of this ‘final’ request of adoption of His Blessed Mother. So much so that He continues to send her to earth to guide us to God, teach us how to attain holiness and prepare us for Jesus’ coming.
We know of Fatima, Lourdes, Garandal and Medjugorji. But, did you know she came to Valley Forge in Pennsylvania? Yes, a beautiful Lady appeared to George Washington, the Father of our Country, and gave him aid, comfort and help in the dark days of the Revolutionary War when it appeared to him with his half frozen and half starved Continental Army that all was lost. We of course know that all was not lost, and that with the aid of the Madonna Maria all was saved, the war was won and through the help of God and the Madonna Maria, a new nation was born.
We need to draw close to the Blessed Mother but we also need to call upon her to draw close to us. She’s already at your side if you’re following her Son. But, we need to call her, what mom doesn’t like when you call?
If you haven’t already done so, make a Consecration to Jesus through Mary. A great format, and very easy, is Father Michael Gaitley’s 33 Days to Morning Glory. As St. Louis de Montfort said, “Mary is the surest, easiest way to become a saint.’
