Make Lemonade

Spread the love

“but the people became discouraged along the way.  The people spoke against God and Moses, saying, “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to have us die in the desert. There is no bread, no water, and we loathe this miserable food.” Numbers 21:4-5

The people were being fed manna directly from God’s hand, the Lord was before them in a column of fire and smoke, yet, they complained. All they were seeing was the dark side of their views. They had lost sight of what God was doing right before their eyes.

We haven’t changed much.

We look around and only see the darkness, the dark days. The news headlines featuring school shootings, murders. Sexual sins are glamorized and demonic prayers are highlighted in music, on stage, in games and movies. We see natural disasters and wars and so much more. Abortion’s blood sacrifice murdering thousands each day. The darkness seems overwhelming.

We lose sight of God.

We see only the darkness and we become afraid.

All over social media I see such hatred and dark thoughts and fear of doom even from Catholics and Protestants. They demand justice and the death penalty for the Charlie Kirk killer. They gloom over the news headlines and fear the devil’s growing presence.

Where the greater the anger, the higher the explosion of love.” – St. John Paul the Great (poem ‘The Quarry”)

We should be praying this killer turn to God’s mercy before he is judged. We should be praying for the scoundrels and haters that they may have the scales removed and see the Truth – Jesus Christ.

“The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has been unable to overcome it.” John 1:5

If we taste only the bitter, we become bitter.

This verse is the premise of my push to ‘Make Lemonade.”

We miss what the Lord is doing all around us because we are seeing a little darkness in the corner. We tremble in fear of that darkness. We become as the Hebrews in Numbers, demanding God do something better. Not seeing all He IS doing.

God is very active – if we stop looking at the darkness and stand in His Light.

Look at just little things. ‘Hollywood’ is pushing out shows and movies like ‘The Chosen’, ‘House of David’ and ‘’The Passion of the Christ’ to name a few. Christian songs top the secular charts. The Catholic Church IS growing. Many Protestants make news by coming home to the Church. Masses are celebrated in every minute around the world. The overarching premise of my book, “I Knew His Voice”, is to show people that God IS present and active today in our world.

It is in THIS moment that we must take the fight to the devil and his minions, both spiritual and those in the world.

It is in this world that we are called to ‘make lemonade.’

We make the lemons sweet by adding sugar. That sugar is the Love and Mercy of God. We stop NOW looking at the evil in the news and the darkness in our world and start dragging the world to God by acting in Love and speaking words of mercy. We change the message so that others stop noticing the little bit of darkness in the corner and start noticing the Light of God that fills the room (and overcomes any darkness).

Who will set up a stand with me and start advertising and selling ‘sweetened lemonade’?

“They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.” Revelation 22:5
