Love is the miracle

Spread the love

Have you ever considered that you have the ability within you to do miracles? Walk on water, turn water to wine, multiply loaves and fishes, heal with a touch? No, something even greater than these.

“Amen, Amen, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

Love is the greatest miracle. Love can wash away hatred. Love can cure a broken heart. Love can change the world.

There is a story from WW I, I’m sure you’ve heard of it. The warring countries refused to create any official cease-fire, but on Christmas the soldiers in the trenches declared their own unofficial truce. The Christmas Truce occurred on and around Christmas Day 1914, when the sounds of rifles firing and shells exploding faded in a number of places along the Western Front during World War I in favor of holiday celebrations. During the unofficial ceasefire, soldiers on both sides of the conflict emerged from the trenches and shared gestures of goodwill.

On Christmas Day, Love was born into time. He came to earth, His creation, to teach them love at a higher level – God’s standard of love.

“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13

Jesus Christ laid down His Majesty to lower Himself from the Throne of Glory, from the exaltation of the Angelic Hosts lowering Himself to the form of a baby lying in a dirty manger. He went from Angelic worship to being gazed upon in awe by dirty shepherd.

This is a great lesson and example of love for us. Jesus loves us so much that He gave up all the Majesty of God just for you. So that you can look into His eyes and hear His words to know of the Father’s love. He then walked through life ever toward the cross that He could prove His love for you.

That Holy Night, God called a hush upon the world. The Prince of Peace brought peace to all men. The world then and now doesn’t seem to desire peace nor even a cease fire in the ‘battles’ that are constantly being fought. But, now as then, God’s presence brings peace and His peace bring love.

When we allow His Peace to settle within our souls, His love then can grow forth. We can then make peace and show love within great battles. The love we show can calm great battles within ourselves and others.

When we act in love, we call a cease fire into the world and that love brings peace into the wars being fought in another’s soul, or within our own.

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:13
