“Most sweet Jesus, set on fire my love for You and transform me into Yourself. Divinise me that my deeds may be pleasing to You. May this be accomplished by the power of the Holy Communion which I receive daily. Oh, how greatly I desire to be wholly transformed into You, O Lord!” Divine Mercy in my soul # 1289
To start a fire, one must arrange the tinder in manner to allow the spark to light and grow.
In a spiritual sense, this is what God is doing in all our lives. He is constantly arranging the tinder of our lives in a manner that His Divine Will may be the blaze alight in all our actions. This is an arrangement of situations of our life to allow His Will to be done and more importantly, accepted by us.
Many times, we allow situations to fall outside this ring of fire that is God’s Will. Or, maybe, we try to pull them outside this ring. Often we do this because we feel the ‘fire’ is getting too hot, instead of letting it build in trust of the Lord.
We need to strive spiritually to allow the fire of God’s Will to light every little piece of our life. The more we ‘throw’ into this blaze, the hotter and brighter it will become in our life. This will allow the fire to grow in size and bring more of our life into the Will of God.
Of course, one can always throw external fuel upon the fire to get it to grow faster. There are certainly times when God may throw some spiritual gasoline on the spiritual fire. These times may seem to hot for us to deal with at the time, but God knows the best way to heat our spiritual life to burn brighter for Him is to combust the material.
What ‘kindling’ of your life are you holding back from the ‘fire of God’s Will’? What events of your spiritual growth are open to being the ‘gasoline’ to ignite your passion for God’s Will to be done in your life?
