JESUS!

Spread the love

And when the hour came, he sat at table, and the apostles with him. And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer; for I tell you I shall not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves; for I tell you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise the cup after supper, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood” (Lk 22:14-20).

The Eucharist is the “source and summit of the Christian life” (Catechism of Catholic Church, #1324). When we receive the Eucharist, we receive the Trinity! Jesus is present as the second person, but we can’t separate God. Christ is present in the Eucharist as He is in Heaven. If we are united with one Person in the Trinity, we are united with all Three! And we know that where Jesus is, His Mother is as well. So, reflect now on what is happening spiritually at each Mass. We have God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, Our Lady, and all the angels singing, “Holy, Holy, Holy!”

Did you hear about the signs that hang in many sacristies for the sake of the priests? It says, “Celebrate Mass today as if it were your first last, and only Mass.” We should do the same with regard to receiving Holy Communion. We should receive as if it were our first and last Holy Communion. For, we never know the time or the place that the Lord will call us home.

Lord Jesus, come into our hearts and never let us be separated from You. May your Eucharistic Heart hold each one of us and our loved ones in the palm of Your hand.
