“It is the Lord!” John 21:7
It is the Lord! What an acclamation?
Many a soul has cried out. “Lord be my Savior.” If you’re on the Road of Faith, reading these reflection on my blog each day, I bet you’re one of those. But, what does this acclamation mean to you?
‘My Lord and my God’ John 20:28. Lord.
Lord – do you see Him when He is standing before you? Do you hear Him when He whispers to you in the silence of you heart? Lord – do you believe in Him with all you heart, love Him with all your mind and spirit?
A soul may call out to Jesus to be his Lord, but, do we allow Him to truly be our Lord?
Lord – someone or something having power, authority, or influence; a master or ruler – master, lord and master, ruler, leader.
To call Jesus one’s Lord means that we give Him power over our lives. We allow and desire Jesus to be our master. To lead us.
A soul who calls Jesus Lord and asks Him to be ‘my Lord and my God’ but, fights to run his own life is not a follower of Jesus. This soul is a hypocrite and desires only it’s own ‘salvation’. This soul seeks salvation in worldly goods and goals. To truly call Jesus one’s Lord and Master means to surrender to His Divine Will. It means at times to take the worst of the world or give up one’s earthly treasures for Love.
If we are truly surrendered to Jesus as our Lord, we must recognize His total sovereignty over every aspect of our life. We must give Him control at work, in our family, in our marriage, in our back account, in our life and death. As terrifying as this may seem, Jesus is never taking more than our ‘yes’. He only demands of us what is needed to get us to the Father.
