I sit here in prayer this morning asking God for faith. I ponder, is it easier to doubt or harder to believe?
“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24
How many times have I cried out this prayer? Too many to even count to be honest. With all I’ve witnessed, my faith should be total, mountain moving. I’ve heard and continue to hear the voice of God, both in my heart and verbally. He has given me numerous visions that have left no doubt of His Presence. His Divine Mercy has rested so totally upon me that my soul has been at complete peace.
“Through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you—unless you have come to believe in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:2. I still often find myself sitting in a state of uncertainty. Wondering if I’ve believed “in vain”. But, praise God, through His Grace, this verse is in the future perfect text. That is to say by definition, The future perfect is a verb form used to describe an event that is expected or planned to happen before a time of reference in the future. “Through which you are being saved.”
I am being saved by His Message. This journey is one of the reasons my blog is titled “The Road of Faith”. Faith is a journey and a continual path towards God. We are never there and have never failed. St. Faustina wrote that as long as there is breath in us, we can be saints.
Our journey will continue until the day we stand in judgment before the Father. On that day, if we’ve trusted and trust in Jesus and His Divine Mercy, our journey will be complete with our just reward. We will be saints among Saints, in the halls of the King, not because of our sanctity on earth or our immense belief, but by His Grace and Divine Mercy. We will be standing before the Throne of God, not despite of our unbelief and weakness but because of His Grace and our perseverance to press through.
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:10
His Grace and Mercy are never in vain nor do they lack the power to carry us through this Road of Faith to Heaven. Trust in His Mercy and Grace. Trust.
And, when doubt creeps in, grasp your nightly weapon in your hands. Holding the crucifix to your heart, pray, “Lord, I do believe, help my unbelief.” And move forward to the horizon – one more step down the Road of Faith.
