In The Garden

Spread the love

“He was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him” Mark 1:13

“Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels came and waited on him.” Matthew 4:11

“Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and gave him strength.” Luke 22:43

From the very beginning until the end of Jesus’ ministry on earth, we see angels coming to Jesus’ side while He battles in the garden. Neither the ‘garden’ that is the desert and the Garden of Gethsemane was a fun place for the Lord. In the desert, He had fasted for 40 days and nights before battling against Satan. In Gethsemane, the Lord battled against the coming passion and death itself, bring all sin upon Himself. First, He fought the temptations of man, then He took all the sin of man. Huge fights beyond anything we could comprehend. It isn’t a far reach for us to understand that angels would come to minister and strengthen the Lord, especially in and after these struggles. He is God, they know Who He is, so of course they’d be there.

But, do you realize the Father does the same for you?

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder, the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.” Psalm 91:11-13

When you are in your garden moments, God sends His angels to guard and lift you up. They will minister to you that you may be strengthened and overcome whatever is before you. And, more than that (like you need more), Jesus Himself is present for you. He will strengthen you with His very body and blood through the Eucharist, revitalize your soul through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and never doubt that He is there when you need.

Your guardian Angel never leaves your side. He is always fighting away the darts thrown at you by the enemy and sharing fortifying strength directly from Heaven.

In times that seem too difficult to bear, know there is a host of angelic support ready to minister to you. Know that the very blood and water from Christ’s Sacred Heart flows into your soul to strengthen, encourage and empower you.
