““Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord -the king of Israel”. John 12:13
We started this Passion week hearing of the praise of the people of Jerusalem being lifted to Jesus as He entered the city. They were praising Him because of what He had been doing, He had just raised Lazarus.
We should take the lead of these people.
Sing praise to the Lord in His Glory.
We have the advantage over these people in the street, we know what is to come in this story and the glory of Mercy that will pour out of this Most Precious Heart.
Sing praise to the Lord of Glory.
We can read of the days from this acclamation to His death and see even the glory of the cross made manifest in His resurrection.
Sing hosanna in the highest to the King.
We can apply all this forward into today. We have been the church that has exclaimed His glory as He rides along in the calm times. So many have sung His hosanna the same as those on the street. Empty hearts and voices, wondering what neat thing He’ll do next or how He will help me. They were looking for Jesus to take control and rescue them as they King if Israel.’ Like these people, we’ve exclaimed hosanna with a what’s in it for me mindframe.
We now are walking in our own ‘passion week’. We look to God for what He can do in these days of Coronavirus. We call to Him to do another miracle – rightly so yes.
But, do we call out hosanna, sing our praises even if they storm persists? Do we trust His presence and love, even if the storm worsens?
Our first priority in these days should be to sing of the Lord’s goodness, to bring our hosanna to Christ as He rides into our lives. To trust that He is present and His Divine Will is in action, even as we later sit in the dark garden with Him.
Persist in praise!! Praise Him…no matter what comes. Sing praise and let your voice be heard through the darkness and in the despair. Sing hosanna and let your song raise you from fear to rest in the glory of the Son.
Who will sing hosanna with me?
