“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Wow! How is it I never seem to move forward? It feels that no matter how much I try, the old me keeps coming back to haunt. I gave my life to God and am a devoted Apostle of Mercy consecrated to the Lord Jesus through the Blessed Mother, and feel such the hypocrite.
As I look in the mirror I see the blurry image coming in clearer of a past I can’t erase. I could’ve sworn I put him in the ground, but, it looks like he’s found his way out. I fight and beg forgiveness for sins I’ve done. God sets me free and I move forward in strength and confidence. Then, out of no where, there he is again – the old me with his old sinful ways.
This man ran my life for nearly four decades and now I want him gone. The Lord has shared with me His thoughts on this journey. “I am making you new, the fight between what was and what is and will be in you isn’t an easy battle, but, it is necessary for you to learn to trust MY Power. You keep fighting for control – old vs new. But, it is I Who will make the change in you.”
‘But by the grace of God I am what I am. His grace which was given to me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.’ 1 Corinthians 15:10
We all face many trials on our Road of Faith. One of which is moving beyond who we were before we surrendered to God. And, another is to become the man or woman He created us to be. God will make us a new creation, His dream for us, if we let go and trust in His Grace.
Does the old you haunt you at times? Sins defeated of old come back out of nowhere to rear it’s (their) ugly nature? Don’t fear you’ve failed. Trust in Jesus and know that He will always forgive a fall, as long as you get back up and take a step forward again.”
There’s a war that’s raging inside me. I feel the battle for my soul. It’s like my shadow is dragging me around. But, Christ is the way out! Trust Him and let Him do the work.
And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Revelations 21:5
Why can’t you forgive yourself? I am sure God has forgiven you!
