How Do You Fight?

“Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed.” Exodus 17:11

How do you face your enemies in battle? How do you handle those tough days or the bad news?

Most people turn to themselves for strength and wisdom to fight. Most people psych themselves up and get rowdy. As Catholic Christians, we need to fight different than the rest. When the enemy comes forward armored and ready to fight, mocking us for our faith, we need to settle down and drop down.

It is upon our knees that we fight the battle and it is upon the Lord we depend. We don’t need nor should we get all worked up or plan violent responses. We lower ourselves to our knees, fold our hands and bow our heads.

The Lord said to me, “when the enemy charges at you, do not fear. He can do nothing, his whole cohort can do nothing which I don’t permit. They have no power to touch you.”

We need to train ourselves to turn to the Lord in prayer immediately upon sensing the enemy near in temptation or sin or straight out attack. In fact, we need to focus our lives so much in prayer that we never leave a prayerful state of soul. “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) should be our mantra. God should always be forefront on our mind, in our heart and upon our soul. Pray without ceasing doesn’t mean to constantly be reciting Hail Mary’s – though that would be awesome. What it means in my mind and heart is to keep in a state of prayerfulness at all times. When necessary add the verbal prayer. Sometimes, the enemy just has to be reminded Who our Father is and as often as possible, we need to smack him with a few Hail Mary’s. But, always to find ourselves sitting at the knee of Jesus, resting on the breath of the Spirit and wrapped in the embrace of the Father.

“Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up,” Psalm 91:9-12

I fight my battles on my knees.
