For 1,720 days, I’ve blown up your email. Today, I flip this to ask you, ‘what do you do to draw closer to God?’ ‘How do you make Him first in your life?’
I’ve shared how much I enjoy getting up early and spending that pre-dawn time alone in the Bible. We pray a continuous Novena of Divine Mercy and Rosary. We have certain other devotions my wife and I do – Hallow app, and Ascension Press with Father Mike.
“It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me” John 6:45
The Bible and prayer are critical to know God and understanding His heart and desires for how we live. But, maybe the most key, on a scale of 1-10, this is a 1,000, is the Eucharist.
“Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me.” John 6:54-57
The key to life eternal lays in the Eucharist. To often I see souls at Communion receiving the Holy Eucharist as if it were just some wafer. No reverence not understanding of Who they hold within them at that moment. Sacrilege and blasphemies against the Eucharist occur each Sunday at Masses around the world. We must come to understand and revere Him, Who is present fully in the Eucharistic species.
