EVANGELIZATION!
What an overwhelming word? How do I even start with this wildly difficult task?
Take a deep breath, it’s not so difficult when you break it down.
First, I’ve said it before, tell your story. YOUR story of how Jesus has touched YOUR life. Don’t dig into catechesis and dogma. Those are important but more for scholars and apologists. Plus, those can ofttimes be contested by non-Catholic Christians. But, when you tell YOUR story, it’s incontestable. This is simply how you found Jesus and how He is important in your life.
Second, and the thought of this reflection, is about what to say. Jesus gave us the words. The New Testament and especially the Gospel words in ‘red’ give us all we need say. Jesus doesn’t ask us to form our own words and thesis…except maybe how He interacts in our personal life. He gives us a roadmap in sense, everything we need to say.
All the teachings of Jesus are our lesson plan. We can take and use and of His words in ‘red’ to use for our own. The Lord gives us permission to plagiarize. And, why not? Never have there been more perfect lessons or words spoken than those by our Lord. His huge lesson on the Mount in His sermon. None better than those at the table on Holy Thursday or in the garden or to Pilate. No word spoken by the Word is lacking.
Read and get to know the things Jesus spoke. Know what He said in the Beatitudes and through all His parables. Then, let them come in what you say or live. Read the words of the Lord over and over and over and over again. Let them soak into your heart and seed your mind. Then! Bam! Someday, you will find Jesus speaking through you.
“So make up your minds not to prepare your defense in advance; for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict.” Luke 21:14-15
Don’t be afraid to evangelize. Ask Jesus for both the opportunity to do so and His words when the opportunity presents. Then, thank God. That soul you meet, may just come to praise God with you, in Heaven, because of that moment.
This moment, is what The Road of Faith is all about. Walking the Road toward Heaven, attracting other that we need not walk alone.
“Christ, give me souls. Let anything You like happen to me, but give me souls in return. I want the salvation of souls. I want souls to know Your mercy. I have nothing left for myself, because I have given everything away to souls, with the result that on the day of judgment I will stand before You empty-handed, since I have given everything away to souls. Thus You will have nothing on which to judge me, and we shall meet on that day: Love and mercy.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1426
