Bible on the Road – How Can I…?

Spread the love

“When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astounded and said, “Then who can be saved?” Matthew 19:25

We are all sinners. I am the worst. I know the many decades that I turned my back on God. I was baptized, catechized and raised Catholic. I went to CCD and was educated on the Sacraments and told of God and His Church. I should have known, yet I turned against Him and His Mercy because of lack of faith and my own selfishness. I’ve done things I am ashamed of. Treated people as objects to my happiness and failed to live up to what God made me capable of. And, mostly, what He desires of me.

He came to my daughter, spoke to her words of comfort and trust. He spoke to me as both Father and Savior. He comforted me and strengthened me with His words. Like Judas, I spit in His face.

So, how can I ask God that He would save me? in my eyes, me being saved is impossible.

“But Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.””

God does the impossible that man can’t believe. He healed lepers, cripples and the blind, not to do miracles of body but miracles of faith. Miracles to make believers.

God looked at me and said, “My son, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:5). “How is this possible? You know how I’ve sinned against You.” “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.

In Krakow, Poland, He asked me, this sinner, to be His apostle of Mercy. To spread His Divine Mercy to others. “Lord, I am a sinner, how can You ask this of me?” For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.

Lent is a time to reflect upon the condition of our souls as we prepare for the greatest act of Mercy on Good Friday and Easter. This is a time for sinners to raise their eyes upon the cross, look into the eyes of Jesus and hear, For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” This is a time to know that no matter who you were or how bad your sins were, they are past tense in the light of God’s Divine Mercy.

How can I be saved? Divine Mercy! Why me, a wretched sinner? To show that the impossible is possible with God. How can I expect to be a saint in Heaven at God’s throne? Like Peter, Jesus forgives the betrayal. And, if not impossible enough by human standards – God sends the sinner out to be His witness.

“For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.
