Hearing Aid

Spread the love

“Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints” Psalm 85:8

Sitting here in the silent, pre-dawn I pray for each of you on the Road of Faith. I pray that you may see Christ before you and hear God’s voice. I always sign my book, ‘I Knew His Voice’ with John 10:27 and the words “always listen for His Voice”, in prayer that the reader may open their ears to the Voice of Jesus whispering in the silent night of life or the chaotic day.

This comes to mind this morning as I pray as I pray that God heal my hearing. See, I have tinnitus and suffer from hearing loss, probably stemming from years in the Air Force around jet engine noise. The words of the man in Luke 18:41 come to mind, “what do you want me to do for you?” The Lord asks. “ “Lord, I want to see” is the response of the blind man.

Like him, I look to Jesus, knowing His healing power, and pray, “Lord, I want to hear Your Voice. Help me to hear.”

I hear the Lord reply clearly, “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through My Word”, “My sheep hear My voice.” Words found in Romans 10:17 and John 10:27. The Lord continues, “trust My path for you on this Road, my healing of your ears comes from deeper than the physical. I want you to truly hear My Words.”

The greatest ‘hearing aids’ we can wear is our faith and trust. ‘Hearing aids’ come in our faith journey in many forms, one of the loudest is scripture. It is within the Bible that we can hear the voice of God most. But, also within that silent time of prayer locked behind the door of our little room. In the deep silence, we give God the opportunity to speak to us, which He is always doing. More so, we stop to listen. Silence starts with our own noise often as not.

If you want to hear God’s voice, stop the chaos and noise, listen. ‘Shhhhh’, should be the call within from you heart to your head. The prayer we offer should paraphrase the blind man, “Lord, I want to hear.” Then, tilt the ears of our soul toward Him and listen. Lean against His knee and gaze silently upon His face, listen.

His sheep do hear His voice. He calls loudly to the lost but often the lost are “baaing” so loudly, they often drown out His call. “Shhhh.” Take up your hearing aids, focus in silence within the Word of God, the red words in the Gospels and all the word He speaks from “In the beginning” to “Maranatha.”
