““You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment” Matthew 22:37-38
What are your greatest desires? Fame, wealth, retirement, car, big house? Or, is your greatest desire God?
Do you love God with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul?
My desire is God but, do I live it? Honestly, not really. I have spent hours focused on other things than getting closer to and know Jesus more. Nothing bad but so much that doesn’t carry into eternity.
“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” Matthew 10:37
God must be the absolute biggest desire, ultimately the only desire of the heart. Bar none. What that then means, when God finally becomes the absolute desire of the heart, other things on earth, like spouse, kids, grandkids, family, friends and even work, take on new depth of meaning. When God is my sole purpose and love, even over my wife, she is loved more purely and deeply. God doesn’t take what He doesn’t give back a million-fold and more.
So, what will you do to put God first? To raise the desire of God in your heart to the topmost? What will you do to love God with all your heart, mind.
Strive to desire God above all else – even over yourself.
“He who loses his life for My sake will find it.” Matthew 10:39
“Lord, grant me the grace to desire my greatest to desire to be You.”
