“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:56-57
The entire message of the Gospel is grace. God showed us grace by sending his Son to take the punishment for our sin because we could not do it ourselves. We were utterly helpless. And yet, God helped us. He helped us in our weakness because He desires a relationship with us.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Have you ever just sat and pondered the grace of God?
I often sit and think about the Amazing Grace that God has poured down upon and, I hope, through me. Grace that saved a wretch, even like me. I know the sins and the acts against God that I’ve committed. I know for nearly 35 years I was not only the one yelling to crucify Him but one holding the hammer and nails. Maybe, even worse than that, I was the one who glanced at Cavalry and turned away without a second thought.
God’s Grace amazes me when I think of the dangers and snares from which He protected me throughout my life. Protections given despite my apathy towards Him. Amazing Grace that taught my heart to fear. The grace and love of God that brought me to my knees trembling in fear of condemnation and hell, only to lift me up from the dirt to teach my heart courage.
Through His patient, never wavering love and grace, God has shown in His Divine Mercy that He truly is my shield and stay. All my hope rests in the Lord and I have no doubt this trust and faith will someday carry me all the way to the arms of the Father.
Yes, I am truly amazed by the Grace of God. I should be cast to hell but through my blindness, though I wandered lost and ignorant of Jesus’ love for so long, Jesus healed my blindness and raised me from the dead that I may live for and in Him.
Take some time today to ponder this great mystery of Amazing Grace in your life. I guarantee you have it in abundance if God could give it to one as wretched as I. As you ponder God’s grace, take time to thank Him for the grace He’s give to you. What better way to thank God for this Amazing Grace than to sing it out for the whole world to hear?
Every time I hear this song, I can’t help but sing along. “I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations” Psalm 89:1
“Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’ve first begun.”
“Tell [all people], My daughter, that I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other souls” Divine Mercy in my soul # 1074
