Going to War with God

Can we fight and be victorious with a small number of true Catholics standing beside us?

Yesterday we read Judges 7 and how God fought against the Midianites with Gideon and just 300 men. They fought against an army “as thick as locusts.” How could such a small number fight and win against such overwhelming odds?

Today we seem to stand against overwhelming odds that make Gideon’s battle look small. A small number of true, “on fire” Catholics stand against a precipice facing a culture of evil and of death. We are embattled on all sides by the liberal press, Marxist governments that preach climate control and abortion as necessary parts of life over life itself. We stand alone and surrounded by a great multitude who will do anything to prove God isn’t real or that He is irrelevant. The army arrayed against us will do anything to belittle men and women of faith and attack Holy Mother Church from all sides – even within.

So what can we do?

“What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?” Romans 8:31

We trust God. We know God is Sovereign and on His Throne. We know God has all the power and is in total control. As such, we know He is already victorious. Crushing the greatest enemy, death. If it seems to us that the Church, true Catholics, are decreasing in number, maybe it is for the same reason God gave to Gideon. “Israel would only take the credit away from me, saying, ‘My own hand has delivered me.’” Judges 7:2

Trust that God is in total control and has all the power to win the fight on His Own. He just asks a small remanent to stand with Him. Then, look for someone to stand beside. We are called more to witness His great victory than to fight it.

Remember, David defeated the philistine army with one small stone.

“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to keep still.” Exodus 14:14
