Glory to Come

Spread the love

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

I was recently watching some videos and stories on several Saints and Blesseds and a thought came to mind. What calls out a soul to the Church that she would declare him/her holy? With a holy envy, I pondered the lives of many saints and Blessed souls, and wondered what they did to stand out over so many other souls doing great things for the Kingdom.

What makes Carlo Acutis stand out? A simple 15 year old boy, who used basic skills to display miracles of the Eucharist? Or, St, Therese of Lisieux, a simple cloistered nun? This little nun isn’t just a saint but a Doctor of the Church for her simple ways.

Mother Church, by guidance of the Holy Spirit calls out individuals for us to see and set example of and learn from. But, for those not called out, it is truly most important to be on God’s list of holy souls.

Think about what you do each day to highlight God’s Kingdom and unfathomable Divine Mercy to the world around you? What ways have you surrendered your will for His? What occupies your daily thinking and dreams?  What is the object of your hope and greatest desire?

Honestly assess this and do not be afraid to admit it if you discover that your primary goals are those things that are passing and, ultimately, unimportant.  As you discover this, turn your eyes to Heaven and to the love of God.

Consider practical ways that you can refocus your life so that it is fully given to the purpose you were made for, namely, to love God with your whole heart, mind, soul and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.

Unless this is your central goal in life, you have the wrong goal.  Pray and surrender to God and redirect all things to Him.

Each act of mercy and love, each surrender of your will to God’s Divine Will adds a brick of gold to your mansion in Heaven. Each act to point your life to God adds your name to His book of saints. That needs to be the most important goal of life – period.

We should be filled with a holy envy of the saints at God’s Throne – it should be our greatest desire to stand with them singing songs or praise to our God. And, if God chooses you to be unknown on earth, be joyous that He knows your name in Heaven.

“Today I was in heaven, in spirit, and I saw its unconceivable beauties and the happiness that awaits us after death. I saw how all creatures give ceaseless praise and glory to God. I saw how great is happiness in God, which spreads to all creatures, making them happy; and then all the glory and praise which springs from this happiness returns to its source; and they enter into the depths of God, contemplating the inner life of God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, whom they will never comprehend or fathom. This source of happiness is unchanging in its essence, but it is always new, gushing forth happiness for all creatures. Now I understand St. Paul, who said, ‘Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love him.’” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 777

“I have desired death so much! I do not know whether I shall ever again in my life experience such great longing for God. There have been times when I fell into a swoon for Him. Oh, how ugly the earth when one knows heaven! I must do violence to myself in order to live. O will of God, you are my nourishment.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 899
