“”If, among the creatures, a bride receives the groom’s name, because she belongs to him, and joins him, is made similar to him and, in union with him, becomes the creative agent of life, all the more so, the name of the Holy Spirit, ‘Immaculate Conception’ is the name of the One in whom He lives with a love that is fruitful throughout the whole supernatural order.“”
This quote beautifully captured my heart and thoughts this morning. St. Maximillian Kolbe’s words are so lovely and really show a deep admiration and love of the Immaculata, our Mother Mary.
Mary, FIAT, “Let it be done according to Thy word” written in Luke 1:38, is Mary’s Sacred Marriage vow, “I Do.” As the bride confirms her desire and commitment to her groom with these two words, so did Mary’s Fiat. In doing so, she took upon herself His Name, becoming one flesh with God as His bride and mother.
The uncreated ‘Immaculate Conception’ is the Holy Spirit, Who created the ‘Immaculate Conception’ in Mary. They are connected as a bride to her groom, a husband to his wife. One flesh.
As Mary confirmed her everlasting commitment and love to God with her ‘I do’ in her FIAT, she opens a pathway for us to become more united with her Spouse. We are brought into this magnificent family. Now, that we become children through this fruitful union, we need to bear fruit ourselves.
The first fruit we must bear is within. Starting with our fiat. To commit our life and actions in this vow, we confirm to the Holy Spirit that “I do” live for Your Divine Will. We become an agent of this fruitful love as children striving to honor our parents in our lives and actions.
The Immaculata will take our timid and imperfect fiat. She will proudly give it to her Spouse. She will also turn our fiat around to guide us to a more perfect fiat. Her whole desire is that someday our fiat may match hers in purity of love. When that fiat is ‘perfected’, we will be brought into the Divine presence of the Trinity to rejoice alongside our Mother and God as fruitful saints in the Father’s Kingdom.
Don’t stress it. Trust the Immaculata and her Son will help guide us along the Road of Faith. Just commit to reconfirm your ‘I Do’ each day. Do this, you can’t help but be fruitful in spreading the good news to the world.
“[The Immaculata] is God’s instrument. In full awareness, she lets herself be guided by God. She conforms to His will. She desires only what He wants; operates in accordance with His will and in the most perfect way possible, without the slightest blemish, without any deviation of her will from His.” St. Maximillian Kolbe
