“do not leave me alone in the darkness of my soul. Rather, do You hold me firmly, close to Yourself. ”. Divine Mercy in my soul # 831
Light dispels the darkness. Scientifically speaking, we know that light and dark are not opposing forces; rather, dark is the absence of light. And when light enters in, the darkness is no more.
So it is with the Mercy of God. When we sin, we allow darkness into our soul. Not turning to God for forgiveness allows that darkness to deepen. Without Divine Mercy, our souls are dark.
The longer the darkness is allowed to linger leads the soul to doubt, confusion, fear and despair. Without Mercy all the world becomes a moonless, starless midnight, this becomes a night of the soul in which the filth of sin can reign.
“And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed.” John 3:19-20
But God desires to bring the light of His Mercy. Darkness does not have the final word when God’s Divine Mercy is called upon. “ God did not come to condemn the world, but that the world may be saved through Him..he who does what is true comes to the light”. John 3:17,21. “He who believes in Him is not condemned” John 3:18 “Encourage souls to place great trust in My fathomless mercy. Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins than there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the unmeasurabledepths of My mercy.” Divine Mercy in my soul #1059
When this happens, and when we open our souls to this gift, the darkness of doubt, confusion, fear and despair vanish. They cannot remain where the Light of Mercy resides.
“Say the chaplet I have taught you, and the storm will cease.” Divine Mercy in my soul #1731
