You are free to do what you want to
Choose your own destiny
Free to do what you want to
Free to open up – and believe
Free to simply ask – and receive
There’s no better time than now
You’ve got the right to choose
You are free to walk away from this great gift offered to you. God whispers in His still small voice, “It’s your choice – you’re free.”
Why would God give us free will? Why would He allow us to choose any other path but Him?
Why did God give us free will then?
God’s purpose for mankind is to have eternal fellowship with those who truly love Him. Therefore, to create us as inherently good robots, without the potential for the opposite character, evil, would not allow for true love. Only love that comes from a free choice of the will is TRUE LOVE. Voluntary choice is the key – love isn’t genuine if there’s no other option.
We see this played out by our Lord in the Garden and His Passion. As Jesus told Pilate, His life wasn’t taken but was freely given.
God is a gentleman. He will never force Himself upon anyone.
God allowed me to live in wrong choices and sinfulness for most of my life. Why? It would have been so much easier if I just didn’t make the bad choices from the start, right? Not really, the paths I’ve walked away from God have shown me the joy of being near to God now.
God is willing to allow us to walk whatever path we choose. But, that never means that He isn’t working constantly to open our eyes to see Him and choose Him. While I walked those sinful days, God never stopped protecting me nor did He ever let up in His lessons.
All those days drew me ever closer to God. Until one day the light went on in my head and I saw all that I had done wrong. In that moment, I knew I needed a Savior. I knew I had no hope without Jesus. In the prayer I prayed that night, I fell in love with God.
I know that I’m preaching to the choir in The Road of Faith community, but, have you freely and fully chosen God? There is no better time than right now. Even if you have already done it, recommit yourself to God. Take a moment to tell Him that you love Him as well.
Very well said as to why we were given free will!
