“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” John 1:1-5
In these dark times, we need only look to scripture for peace. Peace is what the world needs. Peace is only ever found in Jesus Christ.
Knowledge of Who Jesus is, that is key to finding that peace. When we read scripture, we see Jesus from Genesis 1:1 all the way through Revelation 22:21, and beyond that. As St. John says at the end of his Gospel, “if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” John 21:25
When stressed, often because I found myself reading the day’s news, I find myself coming back to the opening words of John’s Gospel. “In the beginning..” Then that stress vanishes because I see, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.”
Where do you find your peace? I hope it is in prayer and within the Bible.
Go today to the Bible. Spend a few minutes at least in the opening words of John’s Gospel. Reflect upon what these words mean to the world and what they mean to you.
“For the word of the Lord is right,
and all His work is trustworthy. He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the Lord’s unfailing love. The heavens were made by the word of the Lord, and all the stars, by the breath of His mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap; He puts the depths into storehouses. Let the whole earth tremble before the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.” Psalm 33:4-8
