Follow Me

“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom we must answer.” Hebrews 4:13

Follow me”.    “Me?  Do you know who I am?  What I’ve done?”  “Yes”

That was my dialogue with Jesus one dark night some 24 years ago.  I was so far from God at this moment, like Matthew, the most surprised in the room that Jesus was looking my way and speaking to me. “Me? Me?  Do you know who I am?  What I’ve done?.” When Jesus looked at me and said that ‘yes’.  I didn’t hesitate. I knew my heart was His. I left my life behind to follow Him.  Nothing has ever been the same.

It doesn’t matter who you were or who you are? Doesn’t matter what you’ve done or how many dark sins you’ve committed. Jesus will call you. In fact, like St. Matthew, maybe Jesus calls you because of those things.

““Why is He eating with tax collectors and sinners?” And hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”” Mark 2:16-17

Jesus comes to call sinners from who they are and what they are doing. He doesn’t overlook them, Jesus stops and turns to look straight into the eyes of the sinner. he calls sinners! God takes the one who isn’t worthy to make him worthy. He takes the sinner, to make him a saint.

Jesus is calling you, look up. Hear His voice. Answer His invitation. And, like Matthew in this scene or myself all those years ago, go and don’t look back.
