““Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled; be not afraid.”” John 14:27
How does a soul find peace in today’s times?
It’s simple. Jesus gives us the answer – “Jesus, I trust in You.”
“O Lord, you grant peace to those who are steadfast because of their trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord is an eternal rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
Finding peace of mind comes after the soul finds peace by resting in the arms of God – trusting in God. Period.
““I have told you this so that in me you may be in peace. In the world you will endure suffering. But take courage!
I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Fight day by day to get a better job, more pay, maybe that lottery jackpot, or a new house or nicer car. Chase your tail around and around. Nothing of this world will fill the soul’s search for peace. No drug or treasure can fill the soul’s discomforts.
Only Jesus! Only Jesus!
I recently wrote a lengthy, and deep meditation in my journal about how special verses like Exodus 14:14 and Deuteronomy 3:22 are to me.
“The Lord will battle for you. You just need to be still” Exodus 14:14 — “Do not be afraid of them, for the Lord, your God, will fight for you.” Deuteronomy 3:22
In these verses the soul finds he can lay down his arms and the battles raging within. The soul finds he who trusts in the Lord cannot lose the fight, he lets the Lord fight for him. And, the Lord has already won the battle – no matter what the battle is. The Lord calms the storm because He is Lord OF the storm.
When the soul sets aside his pursuit of the joys and pleasures of the world, resting himself in the arms of God, he truly finds peace. Even if the gates of Hell fall upon the soul, peace reigns in his heart. Because Jesus has already broken those gates.
