We’ve been here a few times over the past few years but the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe in Orlando is always worth coming back to.
We visited the Basilica for Ash Wednesday. We attended Mass at 6pm. There were easily 500 people in attendance. And, when we left, there were several lines of 50-60 for ashes. This is a powerhouse church located right in the middle of the consumerism and Disney/Universal parks. But, despite, or maybe due to its location, this church is full.
Today we finally were able to see and walk through the long waited for Gospel Park. This is a park that tells the story of Christ’s Passion through depictions of the Stations of the Cross. Very lovely place to meditate on God’s mercy and love in the culmination story of salvation.
