St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church located in Waynesboro, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. Starting construction in 2019, the new church was consecrated by Bishop Barry C. Knestout on Sunday 4 July 2021. Planning will begin soon on the Saint John the Evangelist Pastoral Center to include parish offices, meeting rooms and classrooms, a parish hall, and spaces for parish ministries.
This church is proof that man can still make beautiful, old style churches that are architecturally lively and uplifting, the vaulted ceilings and arched frames are great. The gold-plated image of the Last Supper on the front of the altar catches the eye. Mary and Joseph’s side statues are beautiful and lift the heart and prayers of the faithful to their intercession.
