Faith on the Road – St. Francis Xavier (Live Oak FL)

Spread the love

St. Francis Xavier is a lively little church located in Live Oak Florida – on the northwest side near the panhandle.

This is a very small church but had a liveliness about it. They blessed an anniversary and welcomed us as visitors. The week following our visit, they had food distribution and a class on “how to read the Bible as a Catholic.”

The priest was very passionate as was the deacon. Our friends, Mike and Cheryl, were visiting. Mike is in the diaconate formation program in Pittsburgh. So, he and deacon had a lot to talk about.

St. Francis Xavier was born in 1503. He is the patron saint of Catholic missions; African missions; Goa, India; China; missionaries. Xavier built 40 churches for the people of the Pearl Fishery Coast. Xavier encountered difficulty in his mission because he usually worked to convert the people first, instead of their leaders. He traveled to India, Goa, Japan and China.

You and Connie were so hospitable to Cheryl and me – we thoroughly enjoyed our time with you two! Thank you for carting us all around northern Florida – attending Mass with you was indeed very special! Love your writings as well! Keep up the blessed work, Ed! Peace!
