St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton, Virginia. a really beautiful church founded in 1850. Unfortunately, the main church is closed for remodeling.
But, as much as we desired to see what this historic church held inside, the community seems very alive. It is always great to see youth in Mass. Not just kids but 20 somethings. A large number of women wearing the tradition veils. And, you know me…when the church has communion kneelers, that rings loudly for me. Probably 70-80% knelt and received the Lord on their tongue. Nice faith and reverence in our sneak peek of this parish.
Though we didn’t see it, the main altar looks beautiful.
