This week ‘Faith on the Road’ comes on a different day because the next four day’s post reflections lines up on Spiritual Battle.
St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church is located near the Rincon Mountains in eastern Tucson. A nice parish with a good priest. We liked his homily.
St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622), the patron saint of our parish, was Bishop of Geneva and a Doctor of the Church. In his classic work, Introduction to the Devout Life, he taught that holiness was not just for clergy and religious, but for everyone. He taught that holiness has nothing to do with avoiding the world. Rather, love of God makes us kind, lovable, and peaceable people within the world, friends of God and everyone. His practical spiritual counsel is still changing lives today.
The altar, Tabernacle and Stations of the Cross are beautifully done in artistic ‘pressed’ bronze.
This last picture blew Connie and I away. I intended only to capture the fountain and building’s cross with the blue morning sky. God intended more. I didn’t notice the cross int the sky until later in the evening when I started prepping the pictures for this post.
God sneaks in when we least expect it and takes our breath away.
On the Sunday of Lent, never forget, the cross looms before us.
