Our last stop in Florida as we head west found us at Resurrection Catholic Church located in Miramar Beach, FL. This parish is a true blessing. We attended Sunday Mass with this community and we’re absolutely blown away.
First and foremost, Gabriel, the director of music for the parish was fantastic. He is a true praise and worship leader with a heart of praise oriented on giving God glory through his ministry. In this capacity, he truly leads the people to lift their hearts and minds toward God in the highest form of worship we offer, the Holy Mass. With Gabriel as worship leader, this parish is truly Praise Nation Florida. Wow!
This is the first Catholic Church I’ve attended built in the round. The alter was set in the middle of the building with all the pews circling. The choir sat behind the priest at one side. Before the priest’s chair sat the ambo from which the readings were delivered. It was strange to see but made the acoustics wonderful. Everyone was facing the center with everyone pointing toward each other as well.
Mass was packed, standing room only. By the end, recessional song, everyone was singing – and, my hands were raised with joyful tears in my eyes. God is awesome and we get to feel how great He is when we have a heart of praise and let it go.
The “labyrinth” walkway from the parking lots to the church gave Connie a sense of the Garden of Eden with the church at its center. The blue skies and Florida ‘palm’ plants helped created a beautiful garden for meditation and approach.
If you’re in the Florida panhandle, Resurrection Catholic Church is a must visit.
